ABOUT HIGHLAND GRAIN
Highland Grain LTD is a cooperative made up of 75 family farms from the Highland Region in Scotland.
Unlike a traditional business model, our owners/shareholders are also our suppliers. Seventy-five local farming enterprises make up the current membership of Highland Grain, and these 75 members, regardless of size, have an equal voice at the table. Representing these 75 members is a board of 10 directors—nine from farming enterprises within the co-op and one non-executive director from outside the co-op. This structure ensures a level playing field for all, with the central pillars of honesty, transparency, and integrity remaining at the core of the co-operative model.
OUR VALUES
As a proud cooperative, we exist to provide the best service to both members and customers. The way in which we do business is of the upmost importance to us with our core company values acting as the strong foundation upon which everything else is built.

OILSEED RAPE (OSR)
Highland Grain currently stores a small quantity of oilseed rape on site and has an existing relationship with United Oilseeds who market all OSR on our members behalf. If you are interested in learning more about this offer, please contact info@highlandgrain.co.uk
THE GRAIN STORE
Our grain storage facility, located just outside of Tore on the Black Isle, has several unique features. Principal among these is the expertise of our staff. Many of our team members have decades of experience in drying, conditioning, and storing grain, with a particular focus on malting barley.
We warm-store our barley, meaning that we maintain it at a higher temperature than conventional storage facilities. This is only possible through meticulous monitoring of the malting barley within our custodianship. However, we do this for one key reason: it breaks the dormancy of malting barley more quickly than conventional ‘cooled’ barley, allowing the most recent crop to be used sooner after harvest.
As a small business, innovation is key. We are always eager to explore what more we can offer our customers—whether through new technology or improved storage systems. We welcome discussions with our customers to ensure that we provide the best possible service.
