20 October 2008 Highland Grain Announces Further Expansion

The Board of Highland Grain have approved plans to expand the facility by 4000 tonnes of dry storage and 600 tonnes of wet storage by harvest 2009.  Planning permission has been granted for this along with a further expansion of 7000 tonnes of dry storage within the next 5 years.  Growth in the business has been steady and continuous for a number of years as a response from farmers who are seeking added value for their malting barley and from customers who have benefited from the quality of the end product coming out of the store.  Additional grain drying capacity has already been installed, in preparation for the 2008 harvest, in order to cope with the increased tonnage both from within the existing membership and from new members.
